Dark Psychology 101: Learn the Secrets of Covert Emotional Manipulation, Dark Persuasion, Undetected Mind Control, Mind Games, Deception, Hypnotism, Brainwashing and Other Tricks of the Trade Audible – Unabridged ridged
Author: Michael Pace ID: B014I5PC78

Dark psychology is one of the most powerful forces at work in the world today. It is used by the most powerful influencers the world has ever known. Those who are unaware of it risk having it used against them. Don’t run that risk! In his book entitled Dark Psychology 101, author Michael Pace offers a cutting-edge distillation of some of the most powerful principles in the world of dark psychology. Each chapter explains an aspect of dark psychology in a way which is understandable for a layman with no specialist scientific knowledge. Ideas are illustrated with examples to make the task of understanding dark psychology easier. In addition, the book contains case studies and useful profiles on the types of people who make use of this “black magic” in their everyday lives. You will be also shown how you can apply the principles of dark psychology if you choose to. Please be warned, this book is not for the faint of heart or the weak of mind. Once you have lifted the curtain on the world of dark psychology, there is no going back. You will have an understanding of human nature that few have ever obtained. With great power comes great responsibility.
Done.

This is one of those books that proved enlightening in ways I didn’t expect. We’ve all heard of subliminal advertising and the conspiracy theorists love to tell stories of government attempts at mind control and most likely the majority of us have scoffed at the idea. But the truth is we’ve probably all been subjected to dark psychology at the hands of someone much closer to home over our lifetimes. Whether it’s a manipulative partner you can’t seem to walk away from or that one co-worker who seems to dangle the entire office on her own personal puppet strings, the ability of some people to understand the way you think and behave and know exactly how to push your buttons to best benefit themselves is more common than we realize. Of course that’s the whole point, to manipulate and control those around them without anyone even realizing what’s going on.

This book sheds some serious light on dark psychology, both in how it works and how to make it work, and how to realize it’s being used on you. There were several points in here where this lightbulb went on about a certain someone I once knew or know today, and it was like wow, suddenly I get it. I used to think I was not the sort of person who could be easily manipulated or controlled. Sadly I’m now aware of how easy it is to do just that by understanding my personality and using it against me. After reading this I also recognized some of the tricks people have used on me in the past.

This goes beyond simple interpersonal manipulation though. The section on psychological secrets of con artists and the chapter on so-called heavenly psychopaths was fascinating.

Captain Marvel Vol. 3

Captain Marvel Vol. 3: Alis Volat Propriis Paperback – September 1, 2015
Author: Kelly Sue Deconnick ID: 0785198415

Series: Captain MarvelPaperback: 96 pagesPublisher: Marvel (September 1, 2015)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0785198415ISBN-13: 978-0785198413 Product Dimensions: 6.6 x 0.2 x 10.2 inches Shipping Weight: 6.4 ounces (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #83,080 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #307 in Books > Comics & Graphic Novels > Publishers > Marvel #777 in Books > Comics & Graphic Novels > Graphic Novels > Superheroes #7833 in Books > Teens

This volume is a continuation of Deconnick’s run on Captain Marvel. If you have enjoyed her work on the series so far, you’ll enjoy this volume as well; for me, it ranks as slightly better than Vol. 2, but not quite as good as Vol. 1. If you haven’t read Vol. 1 or 2 yet, Vol. 3 is NOT a good starting place, and I recommend you purchase the other two first.

The issues included are #12-15. #12-13 wrap up the storyline from the previous volume in a satisfying way, although I would have liked to see Rocket return, if only briefly. Issue #14 is a part of a larger ‘Black Vortex’ event and although it *can* stand on its own somewhat, is more confusing than it ought to be and really should just be included in a TPB for that event, rather than included here. Issue #15 sees Carol Danvers return from deep space to Earth in a rather emotional spiritual end to Deconnick’s multi-year run on Captain Marvel (although Deconnick also wrote the’ Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps’ Secret Wars tie-in, it seems this is the true end to her time with the character).

As always, Deconnick’s writing is witty and enjoyable. The art, especially the colours, complement the feel of the book – bright, exciting and fun. Although neither Deconnick nor Lopez are groundbreaking, Captain Marvel remains one of the most fun books around.

Does not measure up to the previous two books in the series (which are both awesome). The first few issues collected here tie up some plot threads from earlier, but in a story that’s fairly silly, and which stretches the fantastical sci-fi elements past the breaking point. The next issue ties into a totally unrelated storyline (running through a different series?); it’s jarring, and not particularly great.

Even David Lopez’s excellent artwork is marred by the addition of a "Color Artist," whose dark tones don’t seem appropriate to Lopez’s style.

Loved the stories. Kelly Sue did an awesome job, and ended with a memorable "farewell", even if it was a bit sad- it had a good ending. Art was on point.
